New radiators throughout and pipework stripped out for a new kitchen

A semi in Offerton being given a new kitchen, where the old pipework was in the way, the radiators were forty years old, and the sink was moving to the other wall.

The brief

The customers were having a new kitchen fitted and wanted the plumbing sorted properly at the same time rather than worked around: old redundant pipes out, the sink and dishwasher on the new wall, and every radiator in the house replaced while the floors were up.

What made it awkward

  • The kitchen fitter had a schedule, so first fix had to be done before the units went in and second fix after the worktops, with no slippage either way.
  • The old pipework included a dead leg from a long-removed back boiler, still full of water and still connected.
  • Replacing every radiator means draining the whole system, so it had to be done in one go and refilled the same day.

What I did

  1. Day one: system drained, all old radiators off, redundant back-boiler pipework traced, drained and removed, and the kitchen hot, cold and waste run to the new sink position and the dishwasher space.
  2. Day two: new double-panel radiators hung in every room with thermostatic valves, a heated towel rail in the downstairs toilet, system refilled, inhibitor added, every radiator bled and balanced.
  3. Day three, after the worktops: sink, tap and dishwasher connected, tested, and the cupboard under the sink left with isolating valves on everything.

The result

A house that heats evenly for the first time in years and a kitchen with nothing in the way. Emma B.'s Google review, 'fitting new radiators throughout, installing a sink and removing old pipes in our new kitchen', is this job.

What the customer said

Fitting new radiators throughout, installing a sink and removing old pipes in our new kitchen. Everything was fitted perfectly and left neat and tidy. He arrived on time, worked diligently and made sure everything was completed exactly as promised. On top of that the pricing was very reasonable for the quality of work.
